Window tint question

Well, I just paid $160 to tint the windows on my supercab STX. 5% on back glass, 15% on two small windows, and 35% on front windows with a 5% windshield visor. Whats bugging me is I just looked at it closely and noticed an air bubble the size of a little tylenol pill on my back glass kinda close to the edge of the tint. Do yall know if this is something that will work its way out or should I be taking it back to the shop?

If you just had it done it will work itself out. I have had windows tinted on 3 vehicles and everytime they say it takes about a week for the bubbles to work themselves out. That is why they say to wait 5 days before you roll down windows. Wait a week and if they are still there then take it back but every vehicle I have done gets bubbles at first and for the first day or two you will get more and more but they do go away.

Hey abah would there be any chance you could post a couple pictures of your windows? I was thinking about tinting mine too, but want to get a feel for what each level of tint would look like on the truck. Thanks.

try to park the truck with the back window facing the sun . If they do not go away in 3-4 days take it back.

You can go to my gallery and look at the 2003 F-150. I have 35% tint on the front side windows and 25% on the rear. I have to get it done to my new truck. My wife Trailblazer is 20% all the way around and it is hard for me to see at night when backing up. Just my .02

abah, this is normal, especially if theirs a lot of humidity in the air or if its been raining. Try what badloser said too. I had the same issue and I took it back to the tinters and they said to wait a little bit and it should go away.

Have a question about how the scale works. Is 35% tint darker that 20%? Or is it the other way?

It is the other way. 35% is the legal limit of darkness for front driver and passenger windows (in most states), 5% is the darkest you can go. My dad did 5% so people could not see equipment in the back of his truck. Looks awesome but he has to open his door at night when backing out of a parking spot.

Hey Wedge could you take a look at this picture for me.

http://community.webshots.com/photo/...56460606JusBwd

The guy (E150wreckonoline) says that it is 50%, but to me that looks darker than your 35%.

Maybe its just the lightning and all.

I think it is just the lighting. It looks about as dark as my 35%. I am no expert on this but I have never heard of 50%. I was always told the highest you go was 35%. I do a lot of driving and the 35% is perfect to keep the sun out and keep the cab cooler. 50% would seem worthless to me. I asked the guy that has always done my tinting and he said the process is like this: They take a film sheet and when they put 1 sheet on the window it is 35% and every piece of film that they add drops the percentage down 5%. I don't know if this is the case for everyone.

Hey Patatoe1, I have pics of my truck in my gallery. The front windows are 20%. The two back side windows have 15% over the factory tint. The back glass has 5% over the factory tint. The windsheild has a 5% strip that goes down 10" from the top at the center of the windsheild. At the edge it is 16" down from the top on the front windsheild. I will try to get out and take some more recent pics and load them on my gallery as well tomorrow.
