Grass sowing question

I need to sow grass in a small ~100 sq.ft. area and I was wondering if it would be OK to use grass clippings instead of straw to cover the ground?

I've used grass clippings when doing patch work in my lawn with no problem. A thin layer is all that it takes to keep those seeds moist.

What ever it takes (organic) to keep the seed from blowing away.
Clippings are fine
