Does anyone out there have any info on the size of engine in an 86 winnebago 31 footer it looks to be a 460 with a c-6 trans.

If it's a Ford Chassis then yes it's probably a 460, Winnebago used ford and chev chassis (plus some others too I beleive) I don't beleive you could get that big of one with anything but a big block.

Okay if you believe it is a 460 how similar is it to a 460 out of a 79 F 150.

for all intents and purposes it should be the same engine (provided that the one in the 79 F150 is actually a 79 motor of coarse and not an earlier model transplanted)

The reason I am asking this is I have a 460 out of my 79 it is actually has heads from an 82 or so from a previous rebuild, the block was in excellent shape with 0.30 pistons I had the the distributor recurved and the crank turned. They also put in new cam bearings and freeze plugs for me. I have not bought the other parts for the rebuild yet I kinda lost interest at the moment. So I was pondering at saving it for if the Winnebago ever broke down. I also have this c-6 trans is it worth saving for the winnebago? Or is it different internally. Thanks for your imput.

internally the C6 should be the same (the winnibego might have the heavier clutch packs in it but might not too) the engines should be the same, expecially if the casting number on the side of the spare block is D9TE, should be right above the starter, and that will be the same casting number on the block in the motorhome. the heads on the 79 should be D3VE and the heads on the motorhome engine might be E5 or something like that but they are totally interchangable.
