Yeah I just bought a 2000 Excursion 7.3l 4X4 with 240K on the clock and I think I pressed it a little too much on the ride home from Arizona because Im leaking some oil now. This is my 1st diesel and I will be using it for work so I need a good shop to take my X to. I live in Stone Mountain and thanks alot for any help!!!

If I knew of a shop I would sure tell you. The problem is I dont use shops. I hope someone can help. I don't think we have many members in the stone mountain area though.
Hey thanks for the reply and yeah unfortunately I dont know enough about these things to do the work myself. I live in StoneMountain but any shop in the metro Atlanta area will work.
TCMN,
the only diesel mechs that I know will treat you right are a good 45 mins. from you. it is a small town shop but they have a great rep.- he handles our fleet for my families business of diesels f-250 and up.
Evil has met these folks and been to the garage at least once.
45 min can be a drive but he has kept the blue goose( 95 f-250 diesel 5 spd utility body) goin for well over 268k with all the abuse i can give it.

Alot of times the inner cooler pipes will leak on the 7.3's. Many techs who are not familar with them will think it is the rear main seal because it comes from the bellhousing area underneath the vehicle, make sure that whoever looks at it knows that and they look at the top of the engine because the vally will be soaked with oil, and intercooler pipes will look nasty. Happens alot and I've seen alot of people change the rear main seal, a costly repair, for no reason.
