How to know Rear Axle ratio

Hi new here to the forum. If anyone can help find out how I can know what rear end a Ford F350 dually has by the vin #?? Also, how many miles can a 2004 6.0 engine have if mainly highway driving? With proper care ofcourse>... 400K??or ++

there is a tag on the rearend housing

You can get the axle code from the tag located on the driver's side door opening. You might have to get it deciphered by someone here, but it is there. It also has vehicle color code, interior trim code, mfg date, etc.

You can't get the rear end ratio by vin#.
How bout entering the VIN# on some site that gives me all data from build specs. THat should tell me? ANyone know where?

I have an excursion 6.0 04' but I'm buying 6.0 DRW King Ranch 04' and it's far from me!

Look for "axle" and the 2 digit number... here is the list of codes as one will be on the door jamb sticker...

The following lists the gear ratios on rear axles.
31 — 3.73 non-limited slip, F-250/Excursion
32 — 4.10 non-limited slip, F-250
41 — 3.73 non-limited slip, F-350
61 — 3.73 non-limited slip, F-350
73 — 4.30 non-limited slip, F-450
75 — 5.38 non-limited slip, F-450
78 — 4.88 non-limited slip, F-450
81 — 3.73 non-limited slip, F-350
88 — 4.88 non-limited slip, F-350
95 — 5.38 non-limited slip, F-550
98 — 4.88 non-limited slip, F-550
C1 — 3.73 limited slip, F-250/Excursion
C2 — 4.10 limited slip, F-250/Excursion
C3 — 4.30 limited slip, F-250/Excursion

Anyone know of high mileage trucks. Possible to go 400 or 500 on these powerstrokes. I had a cummins before and loved it but these Fords are great for long road travel and more comfortable!

Not sure, but need year, make and model to look up I would assume?

Could just call your dealer service or parts department people with VIN and have them tell you in 1 minute or less.

The 2006 specs for 250-350 are

37 - 3.73 non-limited slip
3L - 3.73 limited slip
41 - 4.10 non-limited slip
43 - 4.30 non-limited slip
48 - 4.88 non-limited slip
4L - 4.30 limited slip
4N - 4.10 limited slip
4W - 4.10 limited slip (ambulance package)
53 - 5.38 non-limited slip
5L - 5.38 limited slip
8L - 4.88 limited slip
