94 3.0 shorty pcv valve

hello everyone; first post. Can anyone tell me what the function of the upper vacuum line (smaller of two) is on pcv valve?

They're both to supply crankcase vapor to some other point on the engine. Where's it go?

The lower hose goes to an intake manifold vacuum source, I'm pretty sure. The upper pcv hose which is cracked, goes to what I think is called orifice valve to regulate the amount of vacuum seen by the upper port on the pcv valve. Guess the question I should have asked is why two hoses on the pcv valv?

Hi Whatstar1117

First, welcome to our FTE forum

The upper connection on the PCV valve goes to the solenoid valve which connects to the Charcoal Canister at the other end.

However, on some Aerostars, depending on the model year, the top one is capped off and the solenoid valve is connected directly to the vacuum manifold on the rear of the engine. Either way works fine.

Did you leave off the MAF sensor wire ? or any other connector.... although you should be able to leave it off & engine still runs. Check your gas tank!
Touch wood; I've never had that problem yet!

Its also possible that the MAF sensor was damaged when you tried to clean it. Try unplugging it to see if that doesn't help a little.
