coolant/heater hose routing

I'm sorta confused on the routing of these lines. Before I put the new motor in with the new intake it had a fitting on the driver's side rear of the stock 2bbl intake running to a tee in front passenger side which ran to the water pump and the fitting on the passenger side front of intake. I of course have the short bypass hose from the water neck to the water pump on. Is the hose from the back of the intake to the front needed? Can I just remove the tee and run my heater hoses to the pump and the fitting on the passenger side front of the intake? The pump has 2 connections on the passenger side.

I do have the rear ports on the new Edelbrock drilled and tapped and a crossover on them. I've got that tee'd and running like the old setup, to the plastic tee in front of the motor on the passenger side, which goes to the water pump and front of intake. Heater hoses are not connected at this time due to summer. I think my setup is causing a problem, motor takes a while to warm up. I think I'm bypassing the t-stat and that's what's causing it.

How are these hoses supposed to be hooked up? I'm not sure about what direction all this coolant flows in. I was thinking of just removing the tee from my crossover in the rear that's going up front and connecting the heater hoses to the pump and fitting on the front of the intake.

I have a new radiator, water pump, and 180f fail safe t-stat, so the motor runs pretty cool to begin with.

I changed up the hoses this mornin and fired it up with the radiator cap off. It looks like this fail safe t-stat has gone into fail safe mode for some reason. It was circulating coolant just like the t-stat was wide open but I had just started it cold. First time I've tried one of these fail safes, I don't think I like it.

Took the t-stat out and it had locked open in fail-safe mode for some reason. Only one of the locking tabs was engaged, thus hanging it up wide open. Put in a new Gates 192f t-stat. Now it warms up quick and operates at a better/warmer temperature.

I can't rocommend these fail-safe t-stats, more trouble than they're worth. First time I've used one and didn't work out very well. I'll stick with the good old regular t-stats.
