You can do the basic take it apart, unplug and wiggle stuff around, and then put it back together.
I am trying to research this a little bit, and I have to get the diagram for your specific year, but what I am finding so far is there is no sensor on the engine for temperature for the cluster. There is a sensor going to the cluster for oil pressure. What this is telling me(not sure yet) is the cluster gets some of it's info from the engine computer through the communications network. This would be temp, speed, rpm, and possibly some others.
I haven't quite figured it out yet, but if your problem is serious, you may need to take it to a dealer who has a scanner and can talk to the cluster on the comm network.
