hows your F350 ride quality?
Mines terrible around town. On the highway I love the stiff suspension, but where I live the roads around town are horrible. It rides almost like its on the bumpstops, hardly no spring compression to absorb bumps. I know its an F350, its not going to ride soft and smooth. Im just wondering if mine is extra worse. My leaf packs have seen their better days, they arent a nice smooth arc anymore and there are gaps in some places between leaves. On the left front (D-side) my main and 2nd leaf are bent, my bushings are most likely shot (squeaks and creaks)...I havent done anything to it becuase I have a 4" lift for it awaiting installation (pregnant GF can barely get in now). So how does your truck ride and what did you do to improve it?

mine rides pretty good. i can feel the bumps but hey its a truck. its not horrible though. (but not a ride like a cadillac or lexus)
it was worse when i first got it but then i did:
bilsteins f&r
energy suspension bushings f&r definitely an improvement over the wore out stock stuff.
soon gonna do an add a leaf up front.

lol In the winter I usually have my 165 gallon tidy tank full of diesel, it rides alot nicer. Not so much on the front, but the rear is deffinately smoother, not a whole lot, Ive got a monster overload springs on the rear. The suspension only compresses about 1" before they take over...that could be another cause of the rough ride.

alot of people call them transfer tanks. they have their own pump nozzle and a lot of times a small electric pump to speed up transfer of fluids.
the reason the S/D's ride better is a corss between longer leafsup front and ford went back to putting the shackle at the rear of the front springs. if you were to do shackle reversal your ride would improve quite a bit. buddy of mine built his own shackle reversal and then used superduty leaf packs up front and that thing rides better than a cadillac IMO.
i am looking into going airbags all the way around. or coils in the front and bags in the rear. i figure why not, i already have OBA!

Tidy tank is/was a popular brand name for portable fuel tanks sold in Canada, possibly elsewhere, heard them called that throughout Minnesota as well. A branding sort of thing that causes the unitiated to call everything with tracks a "Cat" and/or a bulldozer, even if it's a track-hoe (sorry, excavator). Similarly, to some people all brands of snowmobiles are "skidoos".
Back to the tanks, some people call them "D" tanks as well, obviously because of the shape. I've got a 450 liter "Westeel" brand one myself, and it does help smooth out the ride when full, plus adds some ballast for plowing in the winter too.

My 97 F350 4x4 standard cab rode horrible even after I put on a new set of Rancho's. I know it was a truck and that it was built to handle heavy loads and I was okay with that. The longer wheel base models ride better but if you really want to smooth it out put more like 350lbs. in the bed. That helps a lot but wont do much good for economy. The newer SD trucks ride better because of longer leaf springs, revised spring mount locations and different shock valving. Personally I still prefer the 92-97 style trucks to the SD's even though the SD's are nice trucks. I don't like the layout of the cabin or the looks that well. Wish I had kept my 97 :-(
