Smile Just got my first V-10

Hey guys,

Just bought and got a 2002 F-250 XLT 4X4 Off-Road V-10. The truck has 37,000 miles on it and I got almost $4000 under KBB value. I'm loving it so far and its a big upgrade from my '94 XL I6 F-150 which I kept for sentimental value (first truck/vehicle I had). Its amazing what 8 years difference will make in a truck. Just wanted to thank you guys for the help in some questions I had when looking for a new truck. I wasn't sure if the V-10 would compare to the 7.3 PSD, but I believe it will work great for me. Hope you guys are right in the MPG department that I've read in here. I'll try to get some pictures put up as soon as I can. First mod will probably be a Flowmaster with dual exhaust and maybe a few exterior accessories. Haven't done any research on it yet, but is there a good place to order/buy an owners manual?? Thanks again and let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or advice.

Welcome and congrats on the new to you truck. I know those 300 6's are good motors but this big V10 makes you scratch your head every once in a while wondering how they (FORD) did it. There are plenty of exhaust options. Infact one member has sound clips of several different ones. Cant remember the name but im sure you can do a quick search. As for the owners guide, goto motorcract dot com then up top to techincal resources, then over on the left side is owners guides. Click on your specific vehicle an it will pop up in a pdf file. You can save from there. Im sure you can order it on paper but why...hehe. Good luck with your truck.

P.S. incase you hadnt heard, there are some reported cases of spark plugs spitting out. So get a torque wrench an check ur plugs. It's just plain and simple good insurance against disaster.

Edit: i found the post, the member is team mudd at this ..https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...st-thread.html

As an owner of a 1995 F150 XLT with the I6 300 and a recent purchaser of a 2001 Excursion with the 6.8 liter V10 I can say that I share your sentiments with respect to how far things can come in such a short amount of time. For that matter, even the 1996 light duty F150s were leaps and bounds better than our early 90's F150s in the fit and finish department.

Nonetheless, I too have been sucked in by my F150's charm, so much so that I've purchased new body panels for the entire truck and will be restoring it this winter... Color me stupid.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the truck has run great for the first week. Mileage is a little low as to what i was expecting/wanting, but it's not bad and who cares with that kind of motor. Just waitin' for time and the bank account to build up a little bit before I start with the add-ons.

Mike,
I just wish I had a place to begin to completely restore my '94. If I did I would be doing it, but it has been completely repainted within the last 3 years (bed 3 years ago, cab last summerr) so it should be good for a couple more years. I wouldn't be so quick with the color we are all just gearheads wanting something to work on.
