1997 versus 2000 powerstroke

I know there are several of you who can answer this questions for me.

What is the difference's between the 1994.5-1997 powerstroke and the 1999-2003 powerstroke?

Thanks, no reason I am asking really, just curious becasue they each have their own forum.

Besides the body style. The newer ones have bigger injectors, and are intercooled...different turbo setup(newer trucks are wastegated turbo's). Those are the major differences.

Yes, but you'll need a chip programed for them. And to find a good set of injectors from a superduty for less than waht ya pay for Beans would be hard to do. Stage I's are a little over 100 bucks a injector. New ones are $200 plus.

so what would you do? Get the stage 1's or just go with a chip? I know injectors are expensive but so are programmers...I aslo have a 97, and I want mine to smoke like crazy.

I soo wish i had the injectors.. I saw a cummy today that laid the smoke out... I'm not familar with chips or injectors.. I just purchased gauges for my 97.' Would it be cheaper to get a 6-step programmer than a chip? I know injectors will have to be a long long term investment.

I know smoke it cool looking and all. But, my understanding of it is basically if you're bellow'n out a black cloud you're just blowing unused HP out your tail pipe. Right? Personall I'd rather have the HP and TQ than a lot of smoke.

That's just me

black smoke is unburned fuel, you need more air or BOOST
