Question 5w30 or 10w30

Just got a 99 Ford 150 4x4 5.4L going to use Moble1 and a wix filter it is knocking a bit till it warms up it has 112000 on it do i go with 5w30 or 10w30 thanks,

I would go with the factory spec 5w30 in that engine and make sure to use the wix filter with the silicone ADBV.

I was told to use 10w30 to take up space in the hole just need to know what kind?

5w20 or 5w30 and Motorcraft filter. On my old 00 5.4 it was only happy with motorcraft always had the tap with the others. If that doesn't help try a different brand of oil. The same 5.4 was a bit noiser with Mobil compared to Castrol Syntec and Havoline dino.

I allways used 0w-30 in my 98 f150.

if it has the common piston slap no oil will take up "space" they have skirtless pistons. the piston slap has proven to be harmless in these engines.
