Better fuel economy

Hi Everyone,

First post! I just picked up an 03 150 XLT 5.4. We are new to the big engines and I'd like to get as good fuel economy as possible out of this guy without doing major mod's. Any ideas?
By the way, I hope everyone keeps this chapter going!

Keep your foot off that little skinny pedal on the right

We have an Expedition with the 5.4 and as long as we do the limit, we have had good milage, but I tell you it really sucks when my daughter is howling in the back seat and I just want to get home after camping towing our trailer. Never dropped under 110 k/ph. Not too good for the milage.

Welcome to the site.

Thanks for the 411. I'm learning that the hard way. My wife already says she can tell when I've driven the truck.

I plan to drop a K&N and maybe (if funds allow) a computer to add horsepower and help out milage (if possible). Besides that, KISS...slow down.

You're right. Slowing down is really tough. Especially when you've been used to four cylinder vehicles or crappy V6's. I love the power!

By the way, I hope everyone made a point of getting out on the road (despite the considerable warnings) and having "fun". I used my 4H about 1% of the time I was out there. I had a lot of fun getting silly and watching all the dumb a&$es that have no idea how to drive in the snow.

Snow day isn't just for kids!!!!!
