6.0 Diesel Injector Failure

My 2006 F250 had a fuel injector fail at 6000 miles. Is this a common occurance in the 6.0 diesel? Please reply if you have 6.0 diesel, indicate current miles and if you've had an injector failure. Thanks.

Did you have an imbalance or complete failure? What was the technicians final inspection.

I would recommend you use the Search function. Probably find plenty of reading (or not) right away rather than waiting for this thread to develop (or not).

FWIW, other than the 2003 models having some problems I don't think I've seen many posts with injector problems, nothing like an epidemic or anything anyway.

some will, some wont set a dtc. As far as I know, the only way to pinpoint which injector needs replaced, is with the wds or ids. Not sure if there is any aftermarket scanners that have a power balance function that work with the 6.0.

I have replaced 5 injectors in my 04 PSD F350. I did not get any check engine lights when the failure happened.

I had 4 injectors crap out on me in Mexico, just south of Ensenada. I was pulling a boat and had 4 guys and all of our crap from a week long fishing/camping trip in the truck as well.

The symptoms: The truck started to idle rough and then it died. I was able to pull over and kept trying to start it. This went on for about 2 hours when I finally was able to get it started it ran but rough. I was able to make it back across the board with 4 injectors shot. Seems like a pretty tough truck to be able to pull that load will only half the power/fuel.

LOL--I know someone that nuked 5 cylinders and still made it home--not that far, but we're talkin about a catastrophic failure. I wish the pictures were still here. He still has two pistons and they look like they came out of a car shredder.

ya it sounds like my problem runs rough like injectors are not pushin enough fuel!!! ya my injectors went out in tulsa ,ok and ford dealership flushed out the oil system with over 60 quarts of oil at my expense and 2 oil filters and it ran all the way back to portland or and still runs that was 2 weeks ago!!! its currently in the shop and my mechanic say's to replace the injectors ,but not 100% sure if it will cure the problem (he's a good friend of mine who owns his own shop 99% of his work is on gas engines) so any help from you guys in ford land is so much appreciated!!!!! thanks alot i will taketo the ford dealer in portland to pin point each failed injector and replace them accordingly

Had 4 in my '04 550. Only symptom was it virtually wouldn't move until it warmed up. Trying to get a dealer to replace the next however many are bad now, but so far they haven't been able to figure it out, other than it won't move again when cold.

Why??, are these injectors going bad? Is the fuel delivery system a bad design? Are the injectors a bad design? Is bad fuel causing these failures, if so, will fuel treatment help? What can I do to keep my injectors happy. I run Stanadyne in every tank. From reading numerous posts, the early 6.0's had faulty injectors, but only some folks had problems. Does my 11/05 build have the newest most up to date injectors for the 6.0? 4k so far and not a single blip....Love the truck~ Brad
