Good move?

I just ordered a fully-loaded 2007 EL and the total came to about $47,000. I'm wondering if it will be worth it or will the EL be worth $18K in two years.....and I'm wasting money....

With gas at $3+/gallon, no big SUV is going to be worth anything. But if you need one, you need one.

The residual value as per Ford after 3 years is 49%. I'd say that's normal for a full size SUV in today's world.

It only hurts when you sell it so if you plan on keeping it for awhile, don't concern yourself about the loss of value, just enjoy it.

If it were my money, I'd wait a few months. This will help get the pricing and incentives down to a manageable level, as you're avoiding the typical high-demand most vehicles have right at launch.

Especially for a large SUV in today's market, where demand is softening.

Then again, I own a bunch of Ford stock (bought it on sale!) so I'd really rather you not have to rely on factory incentives!

I would wait because the new Expediton will be nailed to dealers showroom floors, and HUGE discounts will be here by christmas. also , yes, basically your Expedition will be worth about 20k in 2 years: figure a drop of at least 55 % of msrp after 24 months and less than 25k miles in Excellent condition.(asumes new vehicles are not being heavely rebated at the time of trade/sell.) Also be advised that a more powerful engine is on the way for '08.
