Guys-

My radar detector is screaming "High Voltage." It goes up and stays up for a few seconds or mins then backs down. I usually raise the demand with my subwoofer and headlights to try and keep things from frying.

Have there been any breakthroughs in the last four years? I'd rather not replace the whole alternator. I've already got one "on the shelf" that is a brand new Napa unit that fried the reg after one week. So I guess I would buy two sets of parts.

You can get just the regulator. I don't recall off hand where I bought my alt from but they have all the parts to rebuild yourself. Search for 140A HD 6g in google. Should get you close.

You could just rebuilt the alternator and make it a 220amp.
Alternator & starter Parts - Alternator & Starter repair kits - High output alternator kits

That is the only site I could find in my bookmarks but I know we had a thread on rebuilding alternators.
