Pyrometer not functioning

I just installed a autometer pyro on my PSD and to my surprise the pyro does not work. It has power, the ground is good. The sensor harness is fine. It doesn't even calibrate itself to zero when I turn the key. Did I do something wrong? Has anyone ever had this problem. I claiming the gauge is faulty. Any suggestions?

pyro power should be tapped into the #17 fuse and the light #10.
did you hook the two wires to the right ones with the little bolts that goes under the heat shrink? i think its red and yellow.red to red and yellow to yellow.

since it doesnt come up to the temp i would think its not getting power.

check your wires on the back of the gauge also.

little bolts? I don't believe there was any little bolts. I've checked the plug and its snapped in place in the back of the gauge. I thought the wires went straight thru - the plug to the probe? My constant power is coming off the ignition wire... does it matter if its not on #17? I'll have to look at it tomorrow.

hmm
maybe autometer has changed their design or you got some fancier gauges.
also sounds the wire to the probe is different than mine also.

the way mine is was the probe with about 10"(roughly of wire coming off of it) from those two wires i had to connect to the long wire that went to the gauge. dont sweat it if yours is different.

doesnt sound like your gauge has power. i would run a fuse tap off of #17 for the pyro. and #10 for the lights for all the gauges you have. these also work with the dimmer when done like this. they will dim when you turn the dimmer just like the instrument cluster does.

Well guys, I just rechecked and redid all the wiring for the gauge and still no luck. I don't know what else to try. I'm stumped. I guess I will try to get a hold of autometer and see what they say. All my other gauges work fine. I'm pretty bummed about it though. Thanks for the help though.

autometer has a pretty good warranty. send it in after you call them and you will have a new replacement asap.
