Resetting computer for door lock actuators????

Hello all.

I fixed my front passsenger door lock actuator according to this thread:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/4...cks-fixed.html

However, after reinstall, the repaired lock unlocks when I push the "lock" button on either the door or the remote, and locks when I push the "unlock" button. All the other locks operate properly.

I saw on the above thread that SOME other people had this happen, too, and they reset their computers by disconnecting the battery. I disconnected mine for about 10 minutes, but still have the same problem.

Does anyone have any advice or insight on how to correct this issue?

I have a 2001 F250 Crew Cab Superduty 4x4. It has the Hypertech Power Programmer in it. I just got this truck and the Hypertech was already installed...I don't know much about it, but I do have the programmer if I need it.

Thanks
-Mike

To reset all the electronics, turn on the headlights, and disconnect the battery.

Wait an hour.

I usually just disconnect the battery late in the day, and then reconnect in the morning.

Report back when (if) you find the solution!

No luck Turned on headlights, disconnected both batteries...waited one and one-half hours, then reconnected batteries (headlight switch was still in "on" position). Same result

Anybody else have a suggestion?

Thanks again,

Mike

the idea behind waiting is to let all the "somethings" (i forget their names) draing down, but you can do this instantly by disconnecting the battery and then holding the positive and negative cables from your car together, NOT the battery terminals, i know this works on Mercedes but am not sure about Fords, so if you blow your car up or something, sorry...

I am just guessing now. The fix worked great for me and I guess I was just lucky. You may disconnect the power going to the door lock motor on the one you repaired. Cycle the others one time. reconnect the power and try.

OK, I am declaring myself an official idiot.

After trying everything else, the only thing I could think of was that I had done something wrong, which of course, I had. I thought about it for a while and figured I must have put the motor back together backwards. So I removed everything again, took it all apart, rotated the little plastic motor piece with the aluminum foil 180 degress and then put it back together. Works perfectly now!

Thanks to everybody that replied to help out and thanks to the guys who came up with the fix and posted the pics in the other thread.

I'm sure I'll be back with other questions about the truck later!

-Mike
