Factory reprogramming 94 turbodiesel

There is a sticker under the hood of my truck that reads "PCM reprogrammed...Module#F5TF-12A650-BTE" Can anyone tell me what this means and what effect it had on the engine. The guys at the dealership here had no idea, they claimed.

Thanks

it means you have a later code on your pcm. the later in years the better. it enable your obd2 port more than likely, smarter glow plug technology and better shift points if you got an auto.

thanks 1997f-350! The truck has a manual tranny. Is it likely to have increased power, or was it a drivability issue ? again, thanks for the prompt reply.

it would have changed a driveability issue rather than add power.

Thank you tjbeggs ! I have another question. The temp guage has never moved beyond the first notch on "normal", even on 100° days, and I was wondering if this was normal and if it will cause problems during the winter.

Our OEM gages are not very accurate.

Does the gage move slowly up to the point that it usually reads or does it take more than 15-20 minutes to get there?

If it's slow, you will need a thermostsat.

You could Find someone with a scanner for the actual reading to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) or a thermal (infared) temp reader and measure the temp @ the upper radiator hose too.

when i first got my 95 i thought i needed a thermostat too since my gauge didn't read quite right so i put a stat in it. no change! as cuda jim said stock guages are JUNK! get an aftermarket guage so when it does run warm you will know. i put one on mine and it has given me piece of mind my next one will be oil pressure as that guage is junk also.

also do as cuda said about double checking temp with a scan tool or infared thermometer.
