7.3 on the Beach

Hello all. I am looking to get a 95-98 CC PSD 4x4 in F250 or F350. Can anyone comment on how the PSD will handle the beach in the 250 or 350?

Thanks,

Stuart

i run my 95 f-250 powerstroke 4x4 supercab (6500lbs)on the dunes all the time. tire pressure is the key. i run about 14 psi and can get around in 2wd (open Diff) unless i have to climb any hills then i pull her back and let er rip. the hills are about 150 to 200 feet long and about a 45 degree incline sometimes a bit steeper. but if you can't air down that far running even 25 or 30 will do good.

As was mentioned, airing down is essential. I'm not sure how well the stock tires would do, I upsized to a 285/75, air down to about 27, and have had no issues whatsoever getting around. I would go lower, but getting to a place with air requires some on road driving. I notice the transmission stays cooler if I use low range in the really soft stuff.

Where will you be driving on the beach?

Thanks guys. I have been told that I should get the manual hubs. Any comments on manual vs auto hubs?

In my opinion, the manuals will work (read stay together) much better than the autos due to the way the autos operate. If you find yourself in a sticky situation where "rocking" the truck is necessary, the autos will unlock and relock in the opposite direction, creating a recipe for disaster (read non working 4wd). I put Warns on mine and have never had any hub issues.
