I am now an RV tech in training (YES! THAT Greywolf...)

I am seeing a lot of FORD chassis based RV's at the shop, and tons of fine Ford Trucks pulling the fifth wheels and other trailers sold there. As I come across good stuff to fill you in on, I am going to pass it along to you.

In the not too distant future my short grey fuzzy self will be going off to "HITCH SCHOOL" so that I can become the official "HITCH GUY" at Suncoast RV's Memphis Tennessee store, so I expect to have a lot of good shop dope to lay on ya.

Today I troubleshot and repaired my very first rooftop A/C unit. The day I started my very first job was installing a lift kit on a fifth wheel trailer. My learning curve is practically vertical right now. I spent the last two weeks learning how to go about a "Pre Delivery Inspection" and that involved even more troubleshooting. Bottom line? I'm learning trailers and diesel pusher class "A's" from one end to the other and everything in between.

I am going to check on it, but I think it is NANKANG that has a no kidding recall on a batch of its tires. More info once I check on it tomorrow...

If you know of a serious issue with trailers or Ford chassis RV's fer krissakes E-Mail me about it! I will print it out and take the e-mail to work so that I can find out as much as I can on it and get back to you. I have seen a number of real pretty F450 based rigs roll through and everything I find out will help make them better.

I didn't come out of retirement to go do a crappy job somewhere...

I love this! It's challenging and FUN...

Yeah well - I told them I made a lean-to out of a shelter half during an acid party in the seventies, but they were more interested in my electronics experience.

You never know how an interview is going to go.

Hey Dutch! Great to hear about the new job. Having an FTE guy inside the RV business is definately a plus for the forum.

As fast as things have been going, or for whatever reason - I didn't even realise for two weeks. Yeah! I think you're right, this could be a huge benefit for us.

But I am a service guy, not sales. And I am very much in training right now.

I wonder how much stuff I'll pick up in "HITCH SCHOOL"...

Glad to see your horizons broadening. I am also "in the business", but on the sales end. I also have been a service technician for Ford and was in sales at a local Ford dealer here in Michigan. Putting a Ford in front of a trailer makes me smile.

Congrats on the new job. I guess this proves you can teach an old dog (or I guess that's a Greywolf) new tricks. New career, new challenges. Good luck, Joe

Schwarzennegger was very big on five year plans. I believe in lifetime ones -
I have always tried to manuever myself into something that I was interested in or that I could use the skills from later on.

Let's face: I'm a born "TOYMAKER"...
