Thumbs up Just a few questions for you Ford gods

Been driving a 89 F150 with a 302 5speed, 2wd for the past 12 years, but now I got a 02 F150 super crew with a 5.4, 2wd, trans and oil cooler. Just got back from the lake towing 2 Seadoo's and during the 100 mile trip I didn't even feel or notice they were behind me.....nice. The only major thing is the braking on the 89, the brake's grab good with light pressure but on the 02 I have to press alittle more. Wondering if that is normal with all wheel disk brakes. 2nd is do all super crews had the auto and oil cooler as standard equipment or is that part of a towing package.

Thanks
Jake

RJ,

Not the same truck but my '89 had MUCH better brakes than my '98, from the factory. From what I've read the brakes are even worse now (after year 2000). So, yeah, it's "normal"?

On my '98 the tranny cooler was part of the towing package.

I think it is a weight issue, the 97-03 are heavier than the older models and the new design is even heavier (I think by 500-600lbs), try putting some good shocks in it, the nose won't dip as much.

Thanks guys, I was also thinking maybe it's normal due to the automatic trans is still trying to push the truck as compared to the manual trans since the clutch is disengaged when braking.
