a/c clutch or compressor replacement 1997 f150 4.6
Hey,
I'm having a squeal comming from my truck. I think it is at the a/c compressor.
I was having issues with the system rumbling when the rpms decrease comming to a stop. I added refrig. to specs and it continues to do it.
The squeal is anytime the a/c is on. and only then.
I reached my hand through the wheel well and was able to spin the clutch a bit. I was tight. also between the the face of the clutch and the pully area, there is a plate like a washer..it wobbles front to back and side to side.
(almost as if it were too big and too thin)
Is this normal?
I see at fordparts.com I can buy a clutch . Is this easy to change? What are your thoughts? I don't want to go through the whole hassle of replacing compressors, dryer, hose ,flushing etc. if not needed.

I was looking online and found some info on replacing a clutch on a Mustang 4.6 engine. I could not find F150 specific. It shows it is basically held on by a center bolt? Now if I got a new clutch, does that include the pulley? Or is that a different part? The pulley would be more likely the part squealing right???
Or is it more likely in the compressor???
