I have an 89 f-150 4.9 liter inline six. The truck turns off while driving. No sputter or anything just quietly dies. It does this about every 3 miles but will always restart. The check engine light is on and the idle surges upon starting.
A sensor or other emissions component I'am guessing? Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

 

check fuel pressure and or filter

 

Run the selftest and post the codes.
