I don't buy a word Geddy says. Every one of his posts is about crappy mileage, even accusing others of lying about theirs. Something is up.

I have a 2004 F150 with the 4.6 v8 and over 28000 miles I have averaged 17.4 mpg. This is mostly combined driving, 70% highway and 30% city. I have the STX reg cab. I have documented my mileage every tank full. This is the same mileage I got with 2000 Ranger with the 4.0 v6.

I'm not going to vote so I don't throw off the poll. But for comparison, my 1976 gets 11-12 in town and 13 on highway. Interesting how much improvement has been made over all these years.

There are reasons to own a new truck. Fuel mileaga ain't one of them. And for me, my truck is dead reliable and paid for. So I can afford a lot of fuel for the difference in payments.

You guys have inspired me to fix the old girl up a little. Maybe a little body work and a new paint job are in order. 'Bout a year's worth of truck payments should have her looking pretty sharp. (maybe even 6 month's worth of payments 'cause I'm a cheap bastidge. )

2004 SCREW 5.4L 3.75 gears 20,000 miles
I do 90% city driving. Most of the time I keep the RPMs at 2000 when starting from a dead stop and I get 14 MPG. On the few freeway trips I take I get 16-17 MPG driving adverage speed of 70MPH.

I have a 2005 F150 Supercrew Auto with the 5.4. I do quite a bit of in town with highway trips most weekends. My average is 15mpg.

City 10 - 12 at best, Highway 14 - 16. I did get 18 (well, 17.something close to the whole number) on a recent trip to the lake driving like my grandpa. I told the wife that anytime MY truck gets this good of mileage its probably gonna blow up! Good news...its still kickin.

With my 5.4 extended cab 2WD, I've gotten just above 19 mpg with my bed cover on. Most of the time I get mid 17s hauling motorcycles in the back.

The worst mpg I got was in the winter with warm-up and I got in the high 12s.

I just picked up an Edge tuner to see if it cannot improve my mpg.

Last check (today) I got 18.2 mpg in my '05 scab 4x4 with the 5.4(28k miles). I commute 35 miles (each way) to work 5 times a week here in the Ozark mountains (2 lane roads and lots of hills) and I run the AC in the afternoons on the way home. Average temp here the last 2 weeks has been 90-100 degrees. Not trying to brag, because it really surprised the hell out of me also.

My 2004F4 crew cab, 12mpg all day long. Pulling a boat knocks it down to about 10mpg.
