I put autolight plugs in my 97 f150 4.2 160,000 miles. then It started to miss jerk at about 50 -60 up a grade or slight aceleration. I figured I broke a plug wire so replaced them at that time. The threads were saying to by ford plugs so I bought them but did't put them in. Yesterday truck was hard to start, and then was soft off idle. I checked my scaner p0102 low maf.. Replaced maf and now runs perfect again was the maf all the time not the plugs ; symtoms the same though. the code just came on but I suspect was weak all along . Why it hapened when I changed the plugs is freeky or I must have jared the maf when I changed the air filter. Many posts here on the plugs but the same complaint on other site say the maf - hope this helps $189.00 at ford for the part.

 

it may have been ready to die anyway. i dont think a maf can cause on to skip. it can cause one to run rich or lean which will affect power

 

then how come the buck ship miss went away? it also has the transmision shift earlier. I have read othe post that claim the symtoms are the same and the mas fixed it
