Ok, I am interested. The resistor fails,, but now why is it in the circuit and why does it fail. I always wondered why it was even in the circuit. Jim

Vettdvr,

My insinuation was, they go bad from punching hundreds of combinations of codes trying to figure out this riddle.

I have absolutely no knowledge of wiring, circuits, or anything of the sort. Just me trying to be a smartbutt.
