I have a 2000 X, and when I bought it, the owner had no idea of the code. So I looked at article after article... tore apart the WHOLE dash, and looked in all the places... NO CODE... I guess they didn't put printed codes on the '99 SuperDuty and 2000 X.. I wasn't about to pay $100 for some guy to tell me the code, so I looked into it more. I read a forum (not sure where) where someone used Microsoft Word to create a Macro to make all the possible codes... (sounds like something you wouldn't want to do, but you will be surprised) There are 5 buttons on the keypad. So you go into word create this macro that uses all the possible 5 digits numbers it could make with 0 1 2 3 4. It makes about a total of 10 sheets of codes at like 5 or so columns on each page.... TONS OF CODES. You then label the 1/2 key: 0 the 3/4 key: 1 and so on.... so now your keypad looks like 0 1 2 3 4... then you enter codes.... I did this for 10 min. and found my code. Some may be quicker, some may take longer... If anyone would like me to send them this word document with all the numbers, I would be glad too, also if anyone would like me to explain the procedure better I will. I'm so greatful that I found out about this way. I wish I would have remembered who it was so I could give the credit to that person, but it was probably 6 or 8 months ago. Good Luck!
WE WOULD LOVE TO GET THIS INFO FROM YOU PLLLLLLEASE! email to geda5@verizon.net and thank you so very much...we were unable to find the mysterious sticker as well.
It's 15 degrees here in Michigan and I just purchased a 2000 Ex and owner had never used the keyless entry code and didn't even know it. I ended up reading everything I could on the subject and as this thread mentions on the 2000 the module is behind the fuse panel and seems the steering column covers need to be removed. Wasn't going to happen till summer...
I came across this set of over 3000 numbers from another forum but decided I wasn't going to stand outside for an hour freezing my %fingers$ off so was going to have to wait till I could at least get the Ex into a somewhat heated garage.
So for the good news... I had to do it!!! With heavy coat, ear muffs, hood, and gloves, pulled the Ex into where it wasn't so windy, having copied the numbers into a sheet of paper in a large bold font started entering the numbers.
To my surprise the bloody doors popped open on the second line - LOL
Just to let you know it works and probably alot easier than pulling the vehicle apart looking for this module that many have had a hard time finding and even reading the numbers.
The only thing I can add is don't bother finding out if it is the secondary code that last owner or so has put in, if you delete it your back to square one. Sick to the one you've found.
Good luck,
Estam (Dave...)
LOL, just saw Tap Daddy's post - is the code 11531 LOL
"Thinking" ....Its gotta be the secondary one
I didn't read through the whole entirety of this conversation, but on my 05 that I just purchased, the code was found on a black box directly up and in from the fold down storage unit to the left of the trash bag holder. I dont really know what its called, lol, i keep sunglasses in there.
Bottom line, I didn't have to remove anything, just poked around with a flashlight.
I'm not gonna read all these pages to see if this info has been posted, but this was really easy on my 05 F350 dually. I found this on another forum.
"On my 05 F-250, I found a little easier way to see the number instead of getting upside down under the dash..(which i tried). Under my brake box controller, the little mini glove box compartment. Open it up and look directly back behind it, and you should see the white insulation. I took my left hand and went under the dash and took a screwdriver to push the insulation aside to see the decal on the black box. It was plain as day to see from here. Like I said, I tried climbing under the dash upside down for about 30 minutes and gave up. Its not as far up toward the radio as some let on like it is. Doing this only took me less than 5 minutes."
