I have the codes as well and they are helpful but I decided to nix that idea and just give into the dealer. They charged me a whopping a $9.95 and most will do it for that or free if asked.

That's great MIke,, consider some dealers want $100 to do it and others only if you bought from them. Glad you "got her done" Jim

dreyes212...You're welcome.

Mike,

Glad you got a great deal from your local dealer. I only checked with one local SE Michigan dealer and they wanted $49 or $89, can't remember for sure. Just seemed too much for me.

Thanks goodness FTE members saved me from cost and a visit.

Wes

Wow, my apologies. I can't beleive anyone would have the audacity to charge an hours labor on a 5 minute job especially when you're performing it for your most loyal customers (everyone knows Ford Truck owners are loyal). I'd bid them good day and start punching in codes off the sheet!

Took my "X" in for a lube and oil and ,by the way, could you pull my door code for me 'cuz the card is missing from the manual..Picked up the car and the service manager tells me they were able to get my code and it's ----- and there's no charge for it..

I s'pose that's 'cuz when I took it in for the first time after I bought it,I told him that I had taken it to the local Ford dealer and was unhappy with the way I was treated when I was asking about the cost of services and the fact that they would have to charge me $85 for the code search and $49.95 for putting it in the door..I use the local Lincoln-Mercury dealer now and now I also take the DW's Cougar in now also..Oh, and they also have a Ford diesel guy there..
