New Shoes For My F250

Hello wise members of FTE,

I have a 2003 model 7.3L C/CAB 4x4 F-250 and was thinking of putting some 35" (315/75R16) tyres and 9 or 10" rims on it. I was wondering if anyone had experience in doing this and could tell me if they would rub on the chasis when turning corners without fitting a lift kit.

The truck currently has the stock 31" (265/75R16) tyres on 7.5" rims.

I have 315's on 16x8 wheels. As much as I tried I couldn't get to fit until I put an add a leaf on the front. The wheels have a 4.5'' backspace and don't have any issues with rubbing anywhere. Some others have had ride issues with an add a leaf set up, but mine rides as good or better than stock, but my stock springs were sagged pretty bad so the extra leaf helped alot.

With a level lift they may still rub, depending on the tread type and your backspacing.
the only way to tell is to test fit them.

to tell you what, i have a leveling kit spring pack that adds 2" to the front ( the spring hangers have NO effect on any tire-rubbing-spring issues.)

with 305/70r16 tires (33") i have spring rub at full lock one way or the other (Cant remember as of now) and it only happens some times. there is a small shiny spot on the spring where the tire has rubbed dirtyness off. in my quest for larger tires i hope the backspacing puts the tires farther out so it wont rub (as much if any) when they get installed.

I was looking at BFGs for my truck as well. Are you running all terrains or something a little more chunky. What mags did you go with. I am thinking of 16x8 or 16x10 eagle alloys 058 pattern.

I ran 315 BFG A/T's on the stock wheels (7.5" width) on my stock 2000 4x4 without any problems at all.
I now have a 2" level lift (full spring pack) and 315 BFG M/T's on 10" wide wheels. In this configuration I was required to cut away most of the skirt on the back side of the wheel as well as part of the body.
Tire size has a big effect on rubbing, but wheel width and backspacing are another thing that needs to be considered.
It seams that each of these trucks sit slightly different, It would be worth having a setup test fit before making the investment.
