2001 ranger looking for ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!

2001 ranger 3.0 v6 5speed auto. has anyone tried using a superchip to improve performance and fuel economy? It would seen that, if you improve performance the engine is running leaner which should improve milage, as long as you keep your foot out of the injectors.
