351 for a 300/6 in a '65

I found an 84 F-150 with a good 351 and would like to replace the crapped out 300 in my '65 F-250. Am I correct that the bellhousing BP is the same? The both trucks have the factory 4 spd, what clutch parts will I have to use? Also the 300 has a front and 2 side motor mounts, will these work with the 351? Thanks in advance-Mike
Oh and the 300 in my '65 is from a '72 if that matters.

Mike I am not well versed on the 350 or manual trannys, but I think I would swap in the engine with bell to the tranny, since it is already attached to a manual. If I am wrong one of the other guys will set it straight.

Yep John is right. If you have the whole 84 as a donor swap out the intire drive train. If your buying pieces get as much as you can afford. You'll probably have to make or buy mounting hardware ei engine and tranny crossmembers. Good luck,Rich.

The bellhousings are the same but the flywheels have different balances. Someone installed a 351w in my 66 240 six truck. I just rebuilt the motor and had it balanced. Know I know why the bearings were bad on a 5K mile engine. The flywheel was lacking the 28 oz weight so it was way out of balance.

Thanks- I sent you an e-mail but I'll ask here too, what do your motor mounts look like? Does it look like the frame mounting points were re-used or does it look like some welding was done?

The motor was installed using an aftermarket motor mount kit that was welded to the frame. It looked hookey so I cut it off. I was under the impresion I could use the big block motor mounts and just shift them back. It did not work for my application as the motor sat to high and the front mounting bolt locations land on the frame where there is an opening in the frame. I located my engine with the clutch pivot bracket. It required lovering the mounts about 1". I cut the flange portion of the motor mount off and welded on a 1/4" bent angle.

This is all for a 66 f100 4x4 frame. The 2 wd is completely different because of the front crossmember. Let me know if you still need the pics and I will be glad to send them. I don't have the motor in or the front end on yet.
