FWIW, I just used a drill and made a hole that's a bit smaller than the line and it fed right through. You should be able to sneak a drill bit in there next to the other line. I'm curious what else is run though there, though.

I then dropped a piece of fishing line with a weight attached to it down from the top side of the engine bay. It was a bit of a challenge getting it dropped down through where I wanted the vacuum line to come up, but I got it eventually. Then I just tied them together and pulled the line up and attached it to the solenoid. I think I was done with the whole job in about 30-45 mins.

I did it last night, I ran a clothes hanger through the grommet, it came out under the fan box near the passenger side firewall. I taped the hose to hanger and pulled it back through. Really easy.

I finished up mine yesterday, and after the 203* T-stat install I was getting about 55* out of the vents on Max, now I get 42* on the normal a/c setting!!
Very cool mod-literally!! I tapped into the RED vacuum line and now everything on the left side of off closes the valve, and the first position on the right does as well-its the floor/face vent position--this is the best for me, as I like the fresh air while riding, and not contineually the recirculated air that would be the only one that would close the valve if I were to have spliced into the WHITE line

I had completed the mod using the Ford Ranger valve and I find that I like the cooler vent temperatures, but on the colder days, I find that I wish I had a little more heat without having to place the selector to feet, defrost, or the combination of the two to get some heat.

So I got to thinking on what to do, How do I get the Ford Ranger valve to NOT close the heat at times. So the simplest thing to do was get a 1/8 vacuum shutoff valve that I can close so that the Ranger valve is not even in the vacuum circuit.

So what I did was I bought a valve that you push a button on the vacuum valve to close off the vacuum to the Ranger valve, and then press the valve together to open it up. It can shut off vacuum with or without vacuum towards the Ranger valve and it will hold what ever condition it was in when valve was closed. So if you close it down when the Ranger valve is operated, you will not have heat in any selction, Close down the valve when the Ranger valve is not operated and you are back to stock.

So, with a push of a button, I can get my truck back to stock condition, and then squeeze the valve, and it's back to the Freezer Mod.

Here is a chart of what it can do..

Here is the valve I bought..Small-Parts In-Line Shutoff Valve 1/8 " Tube..

That way I do not have to remove anything or go into the engine compartment.

Finally got around to doing this mod. well worth the $30 and 30 minuets. took longer to read this tread than to do the job. I t'd into the white hose at the recirculating valve, didn't have to cut anything. Noticeable difference here in the summer Phoenix heat.

I believe I would get with Dave/Kawika and find out what kinda valve he used for his setupin addition to the shutoff valve or just t into the white line. I had mine t'd into the red line and not being able to have heat on anything left of off sucked!

After spenidng a bunch of time going through this thread, I want to know if you guys think this might be an option for me.

Putting T's in both the red and white line and hook the valve up to one for winter/summer and cap the other one off with a rubber nipple.

I know some of you guys don't like to open the lines anymore than you have to.

If it comes down to it, I will just go with the white hose. It gets extremely hot and humid here in the Delta.

Advice?

If you go with the white one like I did, you'll get heat on any setting except off & Max AC. If you put it in the red line, you be set up like the little chart above.

I'm still amazed that this thread has had such a looooong life....

Yea, I have been saving this thread for a while, just now getting around to doing it though, before the nasty heat and humidity hits.

I was asking if it would be best to hook into the white tee during the summer months and the red tee during the fall, winter and spring months.
