Does anyone think having fluid (winter), then not having fluid (summer), then having fluid (winter) in the heater core could damage the core. I understand the factory setup let a same amount of fluid pass.

Was there a reason the engineer designed the system this way?

I'm not sure what you mean by "not having fluid (summer)"? I've got a manual valve in the supply line to the core, but when it's shut, it just stops the flow to the core, and no coolant is drained out of the core. However, I don't think it's a good idea to leave the stagnant coolant in the core for long periods of time, so I open my valve occasionally to let fresh coolant into the core.

this is so cool. every ford i have ever had you have to have the a/c on max just to get it to blow cold. i think ford drivers are so hard core we don't need a/c

To flow fluid threw core just turn defroster on a couple of times each week. This mod is a must do, especially in Arizona. My wifes Grand Cherokee really needs this done. Thanks for the info everybody.

I run the DieselSite A/C mod and what I do is run the regular A/C setting in the mornings on my way to work and then the MAX A/C in the afternoon when I get off. That way the heater core gets a good dose of coolant every day.

Looks like the way to go. Price isn't bad either. Summers almost over, I'll shoot for the spring for this mod. Thanks.

Should be. Just look in the heater core lines and see if you have something like this in there already:

I know this thread is almost 2 years old now but I would appreciate it if someone (may be nlemerise) could tell me exactly how to run the vacuum line through the firewall??? I think I've found a rubber plug at the lower right of the passengers side firewall (from inside) near the toe board.....and try as I may I can't seem to figurte out how to run the additional line through there to the new heater control valve.. Thanks for any help!!! Plus: I guess bumping this A/C mod thread to the top isn't a bad thing with summer right around the corner!

I finally got mine to go through the plug in the firewall that already had the two vacuum lines running out under the hood through it. It was a pain and took awhile to do it. I used a coat hanger too chunk through the hole and was finally able to find it under the hood.
