RockyMtnRanger is starting off with a positive reputation.
Has anyone come across an electric cut off valve for this mod? I'd like to have inboard control without having to tap into the vacuum lines. I think that would be the best of both worlds, an electric manual cutoff....

This would be nice if you could just flip a switch installed in cab to turn it on or off...With all the knowledge of some of these guys who submit to this forum (Myself excluded) I would think that surely someone could come up with something.

Well I can put something together using a servo/selenoid, but was hoping there would be something out there already. I'm all for getting things done easy

fixnair is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I am using a small 1/8" pipe three way toggle valve. Only thing protruding thru the dash is a small toggle. It switches the vacuum on and off to the water valve so I can have the water on or off.

fixnair do you have any pictures of this. That sounds like a good alternative to an electric valve if one isn't readily available.

Well, why not use the A/C shut off valve? The installation took 20min.
And it is fully automatic, no holes etc.

Ok maybe I'm just brain dead... the heat kicked my butt today. Could one of you explain how this is hooked up without any holes in the firewall/dash etc. I want to be able to turn the heater core water on and off at will without cutting into the vacuum line or getting under the hood.

Marty, I don't think you can do it without putting a valve in the heater core water line (either manual or vacuum) under the hood. Of course the vacuum valve will require cutting the vacuum line behind the glovebox. In any case, it is not necessary to cut a hole in the firewall.

I drove through Las Vegas yesterday, my truck thermometer read 109 outside, and I had the blower motor set at the lowest setting and I was a little chilly .

Yep your right, I'm just lazy by nature and looking for the easy route I think I'm going to try the easiest first and just do the $2 shut off valve to make sure that I also get good results. If it works good for me, then I get busy making an electric controlled valve that allows me to do the shut off/on in gradiants.

Please post any results on the electric controlled valve...the only problem with mine is that it can get too cold sometimes.

Yep that is one of my concerns also. In Colorado Springs, if you don't like the weather, just wait for 5 minutes, it'll change

Marty,
Go HERE and look thread I started. There is no cutting of the stock line. You just pull the coupler from the silver canister, install the tee, and run it right through the existing grommet right next to it. Couldn't be easier...

Here's a pic:
