I have a 2002 CrewCab SD 7.3L. I am getting the doorajar lite on all the time. It kills my remote access, door locks, radio plays after switch is off and doors are opened, no light when open door, no key in switch warning.
I can pull fuse 19 and it will reset and work fine till I turn off the truck. When I start back up I have the same problem.
My dealer is telling me $380.00 if I have to replace the VSM. I want to make sure that is it. I have WD40'ed the door switches. Has anyone got any ideals or good way of checking the door switches without taken them out.

All help is appricated.

 

It could be something other than the VSM. My truck had a microprocessor in the cluster fail which led to the exact same problems you have. Check out this thread....
