supposed to be stronger than a 60, they say you would classify them as a 1.25 ton

Cool for crawlers, but anything at speed would add a lot of stress up front. Its basically like lift blocks, just not as bad.

well, those look alot like the unimog's set-up, and the mogs are tougher than nails.... i think you'd twist them out from underneath a rig due to the additional leverage by being raised, before they broke.. JMO

they were designed from uni mog axle, and alot of the downfalls of the unis were corrected, and beefed up. im sure the donations would be very well spent ko

ladder bars are a must. I wonder how well that 9" pinion bearing gets oiled upside-down.

These are crazy strong. Portals have been around for a while, and are still being used for many industrial applications. They are easier on parts, axles, u-joints, and drive shafts. The gear reduction is done at the end of the drive components, creating less impact on the before mentioned components. The Uni-mog does run a portal(s) with great success. It is a good concept, and we should see more of these designs soon.

How much do they cost and what kind of warranty do they have? My concern with the mogs has always been the strength of the assembly itself, not so much the mog gears. I've seen pics of a couple of them snapped right off. It seems if you catch air it's a LOT of leverage on that joint. These would be fun to try but I'd sure hate to sink $10,000 into axles and then find out your wheel likes to snap off.

I'm a bit bothered by the fact that they have 3 pages of gallery pics and yet not one proper pic of their axles actually under a rig wheeling. Kind of makes me wonder.

OverKill's axle looks cool but has way too much to go wrong. The's an extra set of u-joints in there and some other junk that was a strength issue. Don't remember exactly but if you search back about a year on Pirate they have the diagrams. Cool concept, just don't think it's practical for anything with decent horsepower.

they say 8500 for a full set up with wilwood brakes front and rear, any 9 inch gear ratio from hub to hub. they made it sound like they had a decent warranty. that was one of the things they fixed, was the weak multi piece portal ends on the uni's, they made them alot stronger.

just dont think it would be worth it. my measley stock 302 wont be putting out any insane numbers so i think it would hold up, however... is the cost really worth it? i mean ya if you are looking tp upgrade from a D44 and the cost isnt too much more than a D60. however i am not sure i could justify the cost if i already had a 60 up front and was looking for extra clearance. then i'd just get 47" LTB's

no i dont know the cost but i can garuntee it wont be less than $1000.

If you're spending the money to do this then 4 wheel steer is really the only way to go.

It would be fun to play with but it's nothing I'd spend $$ on until I've seen them running a while.

Another thing, not to be a negative Nancy here, but there are a LOT of new companies making unique 4x4 parts right now. That's really good news for us and really cool for parts. But what guarantee do we have that they'll be around in 10 years, 5 years or even next year? It would really suck to invest that much money and then find out they couldn't pay the bills and closed shop.
