My old 96 Bronco was 15-17mpg. I bought it brand new. When I sold it, It had 210K on 5.0, Auto/OD, 3:55 Ratio all stock. Mostly Hiway. I wish I still had it.
My Bronc gets 20-22 mpg if I'm cruising around town at 40-50 mph.
American thunder, could you post a few pictures of you underhood? Ford Blue Cummins??? Signature picture is just a tease to those of us that live & breathe........BRONCOS.....sorry for the hijack.....
Averaged 13mpg on my last trip 75% highway. I just did the EV6 injector swap and im going to fill up around half tank ill post some more numbers in a few days. BTW I have 31 10.50s with factory 3.55 gears. After I do headers and ypipe this summer ill be moving on to gears 4:10 if I stay 31's but id really like some 33'' with 4.56.
I have since rebuilt my Motorcraft 2bbl carburetor and in doing so, I found that whoever rebuilt it before me apparently either forgot to put in the check ball or lost it while they were rebuilding it. When I took it apart, it was covered in that varnish type coating that gas gets after it sits for a long period of time.
I did read that my 351M is actually a 302 block that was modified into a 351. Does this mean a 4speed automatic from a 302 would work on my Bronco? Just curious.

A 351M has nothing in common with a 302. You read wrong.

The M in 351M stands for "Mutant"! It's a weird conglomeration of small block and big block specs. If I recall correctly, the motor mounts and bellhousing are the same as a 429/460, while the heads are a similar design to the 2V 351C with revised water passages, and the block is taller and therefore wider than the 351C, so the intake manifold is specific to the 351M/400. It's a very strange engine, and if I got a truck with a 351M/400 in it, I'd pull it and swap in a 460 with relative ease. (Or a Cummins diesel, with much less ease.. heh )

Thou is correcto, I read that the bellhousing mounts are the same so a 460 would plop right in. I also heard that putting a 4 speed auto would require some work and the need of the 460-351M bellhousing to work. I don't know if the c-6 came in 4 speed but a c-4 would probably splode from the torque and shear MADNESS that these engines hide . I think if anything i would shoot for a 4 floored or 5spd. Maybe a 3 on the tree but i don't know about those, their a foreign concept to me and nobody seems to like them. If i could i would to a 4/5 speed in TGM but that would require much modification that i don't really feel like doing.
Edit: I also read somewhere that the M actually stood for M-block... Then i heard Modified... I like Mutant more though.
