I give up and put the wrenches down
100+ right now and heading to 113 they say. Enough is enough.
I rolled a watercooler (no sides) to the door of the shop to stir the air up some, all it felt like was a heater blowing on me.
I'll now reside myself to the the front room and the AC, resist the urge to rehydrate myself with Coors, and knock back a gallon or two of icewater.

Well, you are doing better than me - I never even picked up a wrench today!
This is supposed to be a hobby, and fun to do. It is not an heat endurance test, nor a well paid job with a timeline.
If oldfordstone took pity on us, he would invite us both up into the cool high country for a bit of fishing!

Naw, he's gonna keep it all to himself...
Good news is they say the overnite low will hit 77!
Gonna set my alarm clock for 2 am, just to see what it feels like
I wasn't "hobbying" though, I had to finish taking apart an axle for a guy I sold the hubs and stuff off. I figured if I kept procranstinating because of the heat, he get tired of my excuses.

I hear ya Mike,
I worked on the wifes car changing all the hoses and I quit at noon after I finished. My wife and I made a trip to the post office in the old 65 ( she wanted to try out the new bucket seats) and by the time we got home we were both drenched in sweat.
I have been in the house ever since drinking water like a mad man..
108 in the shade of my patio...at 2.pm

I like the part about it only "feeling" like 111. Makes the day more enjoyable.
Anyone ever see the episode of the TwiLight Zone where the lady was dreaming that the Earth was getting nearer and near the Sun?
Then woke up to find out that actually the earth was getting further away and everone was going to freeze.
I don't ever recall hot spells like we've had this year.

My weather thing says 112, and feels like 113 at 5:20pm today. From 9am I was changing a timing belt, water pump, spk plugs, cap & rotor, and master cyl on a Honda Civic for a church family hitting hard times. It finally got done at 4, and I was ready to fall over. I work outside every day, but this is a bit much.

I got to spend the better part of the last two days fabricating and welding on my BIL's trailer...while he's off playing with the kids, fishing, that sort of thing. I started at 6 yesterday and today and knocked off by 11 when I just couldn't stand it anymore. Welding in 100º+ temps is just no fun! If I had shade to work in it would help, but we tore the roof off the shop at work in order to start dismantling the building so it's just a slab with walls. Doesn't do any good when the sun's overhead!
104º and climbing on my back porch right now. The temp's gone up 4º in the last 30 minutes.
Alaska's looking really good right about now...
ON EDIT: Oops, just went up another degree...

Well you did better than I did...I have welded in buildings with the roof off during the summer and that was when I was young, You won't get me to do it now.....hehehe
I started off by BBQing dinner at 7:am this morning (wifes GREAT Idea) went to work on her car changing the A/C pump and gave up at 9:30 and decided to wash my truck and her car. I was in the house by 11:am and do not want to go back out...
Cold beer sweeting down the side into the palm of my hand....Ahhhhhhhhhh
106 on the back porch in the shade at 12:50...
I am never gonna get her A/C fixed if it doesn't cool down....

We seem to stay at around 20% humidity, not too bad. Any more and the swamp cooler doesn't work too well. I put in new pads yesterday and it helps some, it's only 86º in the house. The guy at the hardware store told me they sold out on swamp coolers yesterday and they started the day with 40 in inventory.
106º and climbing...!
That's the other fun thing...I'm not having any luck fixing the A/C on any of our cars. Went to charge the SHO the other day and the compressor locked up. I drew a vacuum on the '68 F250 this morning so I can put some Freeze-12 in it, but I only have 1 can left so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to get more.
In the meantime, my Ranger beckons but I'm trying really hard to ignore it. I don't wanna go back out into that heat!

I just got in, my desktop temp sayd 106, feels like 108. Now I agree...
My morning..7 am started bring parts from my F1 up front, 51panelman (Ilya) is on his way to pick them up.
8:30am, I have it all up frnt, ready to go.
Keep in mind here, I used the tractor to bring it up, only had to get off and on a few times...T-Shirt #1 was changed..
Decided to mow the lawn...riding lawnmower about 10:am, spent and hour or so mowing my place and my folks..came in about 11-ish for..Tshirt #2
Went to get the Forklift to load the stuff when Ilya was to get here, had a dead battery, to the shop for the charger, back again for a longer cord, get it fired up and moved out ready to work....came in for another shot of water...and got T-shirt #3.
Just got done loading it up, I hardly did sqaut other than drive the FL and BS out under the tree in front...inside now with a cold Coors...and T-Shirt #4.
Ooops,
Make that now, Coors #2
I'm glad JD and I aren't neighbor...I've a feeling our wives would divorce us as the weather got warmer....
