57-60 Gas Tanks

Is there anyone that is repopping these? Today I got my truck running finally, the clutch bled and working and the truck to roll under its own power. I am pumped. The tank however is disgusting. I am debating over cleaning the tank with a product and sealing it, Sending it out to get done ($250) or buy a new one. The one in the truck isn't rusted, just full of gas that has gone bad and looks like mud. Your input would be great. I have to get pic up here soon.

I would at the least completely drain the tank, How long has it been sitting? you may actually have some mud in your tank. If you clean it or have someone else do it, you may still have something in it. If you get a new one you will know it is clean.

Hi. I had a similar question a couple of weeks ago. This may help:

I think I have an extra tank laying around the shop if you end up needing another one. I think it's in pretty decent shape. Let me know; I'll make ya a deal.

Buy a gallon of Chemtool carb cleaner (the kind they used in mechanic shops), let it soak for several days and turn the tank a few times. May have to soak more than once with fresh cleaner. Dont put it all in at once as this stuff is strong.
