Voltage problems
After the glow plugs kick off, where does the needle sit on your voltage meter? Sometimes mine will sit on the o in normal. At night if I have the lights on and the ac on when I come to a stop or let off of the gas the lights will dim. Could this be the voltage regulator or the alternater? And how can I check either one to see if it is working properly? Of course thanks for the help in advance.

Check your serpentine belt and tensioner. Just because you don't hear the belt squeeling doesn't mean it's not slipping. Lean on the tensioner with a wrench while it's running. If the lights get brighter you need a belt or a tensioner or both.
Have the batteries and alternator checked out at Autozone, it's free. Just remember that Zoners are part sellers and not diagnostic techs.
Alterternato ouput should be 13 volts minimum. Must be running with everthing turned on.
Batteries must be checked individually. You need to remove the negative terminal on one battery to check the other. Zoners won't do this so bring a wrench.
