Keyless Keypad-Help!!!

I asked for some help to reprogram the keypad on the door of my new Excursion (01 Used) and the info that was given was very good, however, I still can't find the RAP Module under the dash. I had my husband and our neighbors (diehard Ford guys) help and we cannot find anything that even remotely may work. We took the dash apart and even pulled out the radio. My husband is trying to tell me that he thinks someone took it out or bypassed it because there is obvious wiring work done to the truck-lots of aftermarket stuff that was most likely taken off before the repo guy showed up. My thought is that the RAP module has to be in the truck because when you use the 7/8 9/0 buttons at the same time to lock the truck it does in fact lock the doors, just like it should. If the RAP module was missing it wouldn't lock, right?? So....my question is: Is there somewhere else to look for the RAP module or another way to get the factory set code for the keyless door pad?

Thanks for all of your help, I appreciate your time.

Tina

You might want to locate the Factory service manual and EVTM for your truck. You can download it here: www.fordcds.com. IIRC the RAP module may be under the left rear interior trim panel.

I just asked a friend of mine that has a '01( or '02?) Exc... He said his is "under the dash, Left Side above the Brake pedal area"... he mentions that thier should be a label on it...

I suppose for the code... But....if you have been looking for a black box/module...it may actually be white/silverish in color...

Yes, the sticker would have the 5 digit code on it. Just for giggles, if you have the original owners manual take a look around in the folder and all of the inserts. There "may" be a tag with the code on it. The tags were supposed to have been put there but were often lost or just never made it into the pouch.

I have the diagrams, but I do not know much about this system. I make that statement because I looked at the anti-theft diagram and it has whats called a PATS module hanging under the dash, a little bit above and to the right of the steering column.

I then looked up the keypad, and it is wired directly into the GEM module.

After looking at the procedures in the service part of the manual, from what I can tell the PATS system is for the ignition keys, and has to be programmed at the dealer.

The keypad on the door is for unlocking the door only, and goes directly into the GEM. When the GEM is changed for some reason, you have to have a special programmer that will retrieve the info from the old GEM, and transfer it into the new GEM module. They never say anything about it in the manual, but I bet the Ford dealer can hook up to your module and tell you the keypad code.

So the possibility exists that you do not have a RAP module

Just thinkin about mom & dads '93 Cougar w/ the Keyless entry pad.. They actually still have the card in the manual binder/folder.

We also noticed that the code was also on what looked to be a common 3/4" x 3-4" white address labels (black ink) on some of the support arm/hinges for the doors...

Maybe a possibilty to look for?
