What is the difference in the 65r vs 70 in this tire size, is the 65 wider or something else

The difference is the height, as the 65 and 70 are the sidewall height expressed as percentages of the section width (275).

The 275/65r18 will be approx 32.1 inches tall.
The 275/70r18 will be approx 33.2 inches tall.

You are scaring me by comparing these two sizes, as most times the 275/65r18 comes on the f150 and is Pmetric and the 275/70r18 comes on the f250 and is LT (E) rated.

They shouldn't be interchanged, unless you want a really rough ride on the F150, and a DANGEROUS situation on the F250, where the tires will not hold up to the loads the truck is capable of.

tire

No they are on my 2005 f350, i was thinking about going to a wider tire and not taller, just to keep things status qou w/ the speedo. I have the 275 70r 18's.

Are you looking for a more aggressive tire too? A lot of guys with the Continental OE tires are looking for that!

The only tire that is close to the 275/70r18 is the BFG All Terrain KO that comes in 285/65r18 D (a E ply will be available in the fall).

It is 10mm wider (and it will look a good deal wider because of the shoulder lugs). It will be 32.6 inches tall.

The KO would fit the bill then, just make sure to compare the load ratings to make the best choice for you. If you tow a lot of weight, you may want to wait for the E ply.

Snow chains

looking for information on snow chains for F250
I have some news and snow chains I had for my F150 that work for a size 275/65/70. But don’t know if that will work for my F250 275/70/18.
I called the manufacturer and they said to try them but could not tell me if they would fit or not.
I hate to open up the new chains in case they do not fit.
any advice or suggestions.
thanks Chad
