TANNER07 is starting off with a positive reputation.
I have a '02 Ford Escape, there is a hissing sound coming from under the dash. The a/c works fine and the heater door are operational. No recent work done inside or outside of the vehicle. What could the problem be?

Definitely sounds like a vacuum leak. Turn on engine, and turn off AC fan, radio, and any other noise making equipment. Listen for the leak, and visually check if you can spot the leak line (probably disconnect or loose). You can run you hand along those vacuum line and check if you notice a change in the tone of leak or feel the leak. If you can get a vacuum diagram from the ford dealearship for the vacuum schematics of the dash area might help in locating all those vacuum lines.
