Arizona, chime in on these chemical costs
Both Rooster and I talked today and found we were both paying too much for our chemicals. Here is what we found
I paid about $27.00 for 50.12lb of lye Brothers chemicals in phoenix
Rooster pd about 60 somethin
I paid over $8/gallon for methanol for 5 gal or 3.16 for 54 gal +10 barrel core
Rooster pd $2.67 a gall no core at Western Petroleum in phoenix
Also Westerm has commercial biod for sale at $2.84/gal
I can purchase 55 gal of methanol from a family member wholesale for $2.10 a gallon. Prob is that I have to travel to get, but im there at least once a month.

question on the bio
i just started making bio diesel and well it looks pretty good before i wash it, still waiting for my washed batch to settle (20 hours now) anyway. it is going slow.
anyway this is not why i am asking this, but how many people skip the wash ? if you mixing it do you really need to do this. I have a friend up in CO. that does not wash, and has had no problem yet( been running 80-100% for a year with no wash), he has a 96 PSD ( i think)
well i am just worried that some of the water will get stay in the fuel, if i wash
thanks
chad

The homebrew pro's swear by washing your Bio several times. Unwashed fuel is not good in the long run. I would think adding heat will speed the process in the settling. Good source of info is:

Yeah but that is to be expected the first tank because it washes every bit of junk from your fuel tanks and lines. Just carry a spare for a while. Youll want to make sure your seals and lines are newer quality because of the ability for bio to break them down. Like disolves like. Do some reading on different bio sites for specifics.
