Why are you going for the 2wd? IMO if you are going to go that far into the truck world with the PSD, you might as well make it 4WD. You never know when you could use it. Even if you live in a warm climate, you could potentially use it when in dirt or sand.
Just my $.02

2wd pros: lower ride height, less to break, better mileage, lower purchase cost
But your point is well taken.
Any pros for 4wd (other than the obvious getting out of sand, etc.) that I might have missed? I never really considered it because of an earlier bad experience with a 4x4 expedition.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and all we can get up here is 4wd. I hate it. What a wast of money, especially on a new truck. When you consider people up here may end up ussing 4wd maybe 2 times a year at most that ends up costing you about $800 dallors every time you use it.
All you need is 2wd with locking rear differencial. Just my .2 cents.

Granted, the locking diff. makes a huge difference, but it's always been my philosophy that within reason, if you can get it, why not. With the manual shift transfer case (it is still available) only a few things can go wrong. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse, I just thought it could use clarification.
Best of luck.
