low oil sensor is leaking

1991 Ranger 3.0L 181,000 miles

The "low oil" sensor that is screwed into the passenger side of the oil pan is leaking. I went to the ford dealership and bought a new rubber gasket for a couple bucks. I hope they gave me the right one.

I have never removed one before. It looks like you just unscrew it like anything else. Clean up the threads on the sensor and on the oil pan and put the new gasket in place and tighten it all down. Is there anything else that i should know? thanks

I did this on my mums 3.o aerostar... except the gasket on this engine is integrated in the sensor. I just removed the sensor and installed the gasket, then reinstalled the sensor..... and refilled the oil. Haven't leaked since I did it last year. But I do need to replace the trans that failed, doh.

on the aerostar it's located on the passenger side of the oil pan. One wire hook up. I'm not sure if it would be the same spot on your truck though, as it may have a different oil pan.

Talking oil sending

I know i have a smal leak. just have'nt had to fix it yet cause oil pressure was up more than down but as fortune would have it it is reversing to less oil psi so I will look around the oil pan when I change the oil this comming monday!
and at least it is a starting place.
I have been told top of Engine side of Engine. and havent located it so this will be the right deal!
Thank you sencerly,
