PortOSonic intake

Well I have a like brand new portosonic intake for my 429 thunderjet but Im not sure its gonna work. It is in a truck the motor is and with the intake and the holley 750 on top and aircleaner the hood isnt gonna close. I have a 1969 429-thunder jet with headers, and only the needed accessories, but I think Im gonna have to switch to a factory style 4barrel to clear. The portosonic I think is to much intake for a stock thunder jet am I right?

If so anyone willing to make a deal for a factory 4v intake for my Portosonic? send me a message.

How tall of an aircleaner do you have? I used some play dough to figure out the clearance issues I had with my Weiand Stealth. I have 1 1/2 inches of room after going to a drop base 4 inch air cleaner.

the aircleaner its a low profile like 2.25 or 2.5 high but I have to have a 1' spacer for the carb to clear the vacuum tree on the intake or I have no provison for vacuum for the booster and modulator vavle.unless I can find some other vacuum source.

Elbow off the intake for the "tree"? Must be a tall intake. I run a 2 inch spacer, and a tall filter off a stock 4bbl intake and have no issues with clearance on my '70's trucks.

It is tall its a single plane highrise ,and with a 1"spacer and the holley 750 and the aircleaner it isnt gonna clear and I need the vacuum tree for the brake booster, mod valve ,and other vacuum. The intake has a vacuum with elbow that will clear the carb but its a single vacuum source ,and I need at least 3 vacuum ports open.I need the 1" spacer just to clear the vacuum tree and then that puts it up to high.Plus id like to run my kickdown rod for passing gear for my c6 and I cant with the carb sitting high in the sky lol.

Id make a deal if anyone is interested id trade this intake straight across for a factory 4v intake with a 1"spacer if they paid the S&H costs and this intake costs well over 200, and it still looks new, it is great for a racing or pulling engine ,it revs to 8000rpm.My loss ,someones gain.

Guys for what it's worth he is making you a heck of an offer, the Port-O-Sonic intake for the 460 lists at $309.95 on summit racing. If you don't figure it out, and no one takes you up on it I will look around and find you a good factory intake, I don't really have a need for that one right now but I am sure I will end up building an engine for someone that wants one, but would rather someone that can use it from here buy it or trade for it. I can't use it on my engines because the heads I run don't use any factory intakes.

I have a factory cast iron dual plane 4 bbl intake sitting on the floor of my truck. I would talk, as I am going to run a 750 cfm AFB on my 71 429.

For the vacum tree I made my own from a 1 1/2 inch tall brass piece then tapped my own ports off of that. I am running a vacum booster and the trans mod valve off of it as well. You could also use brake line to do the same thing but with a press fit then flare the ends of the tube. The parts came from carquest in one of their storage bins on the foor.
