Pulling 5th wheel

Pulling 5th wheel
I am looking into a 5th wheel camper with a GVWR of 11,500 and hitch weight around 1500#. I would be pulling it with a 2005 PSD CC FX4 GVWR 0f 10,000# rear axel rating of 6100# will I be able to pull this rig comfortable, or will I be over weight? I was also looking into the B&W hide away hitch with adapter from the dealership.

You should be fine. My 5ver has a hitch weight of about 1400# and a GVWR of 16000#. Pulling weight empty (no water,etc.)~14000#. No problems pulling it. Could use a rear anti-swar bay though. Did get a little hairy on a windy day. Pulls just fine, stopping is another story. Could use an exhaust brake for freeway driving. Trailer does have 4 wheel 12" brakes. See my signature for type of truck and mods.

Look here....it's the chart of your towing limits. http://www.clubfte.com/users/monsta/TrailertowingV2.htm
This FTE site is great...it's got so much info, it's takes a while to find everything!

A 2005 F250 PSD CC 4x4 appears to be rated to tow 15,400# 5th wheel Trailer.
To determine what YOUR truck can handle, fill the tank and go to a public scale.
Then subtract this weight from your GVWR. This will be your payload capacity.
Now anything else you put in or on your truck will be subtracted from your paylaod capacity. This will include you, your passangers, hitch (if not installed during trip to scale.) Tongue weight of trailer, etc.
My guess is your truck will be around 7600#. So example 10,000 - 7600 = 2400# payload cap. 2400# - 1500# tougue wt= 900# payload left for hitch, passangers, etc. It adds up quick. Play it safe go to a scale.

My '03 pulls a Fiver with a hitch weight of 2,000 with no problems Trailer weighs about 11 or 12k loaded. How does an 11, 500 pound trailer have only a hitch weight of only 1500? No pop-outs?? I have two. Bedroom pops out.
I have a Pullrite Super 5th and love it! back right into it and the jaws snap shut and you are done!
