Front Bumper Brackets?

Hi there!
I have a question regarding the Front Bumper. As you can see with the picture, my truck is lacking a front bumper. I have the bumper to the truck... my only problem is that I don't have a way to mount it. Everyone I have spoken to insists that the bumper bolts directly to the frame. I cannot find any holes on the bumper that line up with anything on the frame. The bumper has holes on the top and front of the bumper. The frame only has holes on the sides (that indicated to me that I might be missing a bracket).

My question is: Are there brackets that bolt between the frame and the bumper? Or am I missing part of the frame? I have included one of the only pictures of the truck I have. I can take more and post them here. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Here is the photo... aint she a beauty??!
Thats the original shot before I got her. It still looks more or less the same. Found the grille, new mirrors, fender. Still the same brown. Any color ideas??

Man you will just have to stop being so hard headed. Ford trucks use bumpers that bolt directly to the ends of the frame rails. One is on top and the other is directly in front. Your's can't be the only Ford truck around, look at another one. Front bumpers from 65 to 79 will interchange.

You aren't wanting to put a chevy bumper on the old girl are you?? hehehe

Pre 1964 Fords used a bracket bolted to the frame that the bumper bolts to. It has three bolts per side, triangular shaped pattern, in the front of the bumper. Other than the bolt hole locations, the bumpers are identical. Im betting you have a bumper for a 63 or earlier. If the bumper is in good shape, I think the brackets (if you can find some) will bolt to your frame.

Prior to the 77 1/2 low-boy 4x4 fords had bolt on bumper brackets, 2wd bumpers bolted directly to the frame. The brackets that you need are 4x4 only. I think that the 4x4 was designed with seperate brackets to make it easier to mount plows and such(move the bumper and brackets to the front of the plow.

From what I can see... it still appears that I will need brackets. Most of the junkyards I have called said that my truck doesn't have brackets, but somehow I am guessing that they are only thinking of the 2wd models. I guess there will be more phone calls to make!

Also,
John, please refrain from using the "C" word on this website (Che#y), you may risk losing your priviledges here! heheh

It will be a cold day in hell before any che#y parts get bolted on my truck!

The front bumper connects directly to the frame on my 1972 4x4 just as it does on my 1970 2x2. I wonder if your truck had been "customized" sometime in the past?

When I bought my used bumper for my truck, it had a set of those mounts on it. I have a photo of them if you want, I can send you the photo. Email me at akimp@alaska.net . I have them in my garage. Hope this helps.

Here is a scan of what the Master Part Catalog shows for 1964/72 trucks. It is quite clear how the front bumpers attach on the various models during this period. You need the "F250 4x4 or F-350" brackets.

I never realized that the bumpers for the F100 4x4 bolted right to the frame like the F100/250 4x2's or that the F350 used the same brackets as the F250 4x4. Sure does help at the bone yard. Neat stuff.

That will definitely help me out at the boneyards! An F350 will be a little easier to find than a 4x4. That pic there looks exactly like my frame and what I pictured the bracket might look like. It looks like I have some phone calls to make tommorrow. I'll let y'all know how I made out. Thanks again!
